Greetings Friends October 14, 2020 Fall is in the air in NC. I love to watch the leaves changing from green to yellow seemingly before my eyes. When the wind blows it’s like yellow snowflakes floating down and landing in the creek. Guess I didn’t know how much I missed this season. Recently our youngest, Jordan, returned to Alaska to the smells of fall in the woods. He too commented how he remembered with fondness the smells of the fall at our home in NC. Fall brings changes and this fall seems to be full of more than just falling leaves. Covid-19 is still causing issues in many areas of our lives. Today, October 14th my father turns 90. We had tickets to fly back to California, but with his compromised immune system, the party got canceled. Many children are still staying home to do school, our grands included. I usually help watch their 2yr old brother in the morning so mom can help them. This year’s presidential election, unlike any I remember, is crazy polarizing and needs our fervent prayers. The anger and lawlessness that has crippled many of our lovely cities has been very disturbing. Natural disaster have devastated cites. I think you get the picture. So, where is the hope that we need to keep pressing on through fall and the long dark days of winter? Jesus our living hope! He is not only our hope but our anchor that can keep us from drifting into the rocks. I am so happy/blessed to have His words to meditate on during all these crazy times. Be thankful today that you have 400 versions of the Bible in English to be encouraged by. But what about those who don’t have a Bible in their language? Will you pray with us for those who are still waiting for their Bible? Will you pray for Jim and I as we try to get the word out about the 2,400+ languages that have scriptures in text, audio, and video found on ScriptureEarth.org and other sites? As a result of Covid-19, we’ve been doing more “online” learning about scripture access and engagement via digital media. Though we much prefer face to face, God is allowing good things to happen that would not have been possible had we been operating as normal. Canceled conference organizers are holding virtual meetings for anyone interested. Through these we’ve been able to learn about things like media to discipleship, how to use social media, how to make videos, animation, and storytelling. We are averaging a course a week and we have online courses scheduled into Feb. It’s an amazing blessing. Do you remember Pastor Paul from Kenya? Since we keep in contact, he has told me how people are using the resources on the website to teach others about Jesus. They started listening groups to help those who don’t have a phone or a Bible in Ekegusii to hear the Words of the Lord and grow in their faith. Please keep him and 7 pastors who are trying to reach the Ekegusii people with the Gospel. ![]() Today, take time to be with Jesus and His word. Any amount will help. Without Him, we can become discouraged as we see the things going on in our world. Hebrews12:1b-2a. “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” As one of our prayer partners closes her letters, “Keep looking up!” Prayer Requests for October Pray for all those still suffering from the impact of Covid-19 and the natural disasters.
