The Rest of the Story
March 5, 2020
Do you remember the Paul Harvey radio show “The Rest of the Story”? My mom always listened to it. I loved hearing about the unexpected ending to a story. So many times, the ending brought hope and joy.
I had a similar experience of my own last month. A colleague forwarded an article about a lady who does admissions for CIU, Columbia International University in Columbia SC, who became the conduit for the Bible to a language group in Kenya.
How it all began. A pastor in Kenya, Pastor Paul, wanted to get more Biblical and theological training. He sent a request through the CIU website and talked with an admissions counselor, Sarah Gibson. Unfortunately, his taking courses in the US couldn’t happen. In their conversation, she found out he has a growing church of over 250 people who speak Ekegusii — a rare language. He mentioned the stress of leading and preaching to a congregation who had no Bibles in their language.
The Lord kept bringing this pastor to her and her families’ minds and they prayed for a solution. After much searching, she found that a Kenya Bible Society did a translation and had some Bibles. She ordered several copies at $10 each and the Bible society walked them to his village. It was a celebration like no other when they got to hold and read the Bible in their very own language.

Now…to the rest of the story. After reading the article, I went on the ScriptureEarth.org website. I was surprised to discovered that not only was there a link of where to purchase a printed Bible, but also audio and video resources in Ekegusii. I was so excited! But…I didn’t know how to contact Sarah since the article wasn’t written by her. I tried a few email address ideas. Nothing was working. Lord, I prayed, help me find her. He directed me to the bottom of the CIU page. There was a place to contact admissions. Probably the same place Pastor Paul sent his initial request. So, I wrote a brief email telling Sarah that I had read the story about Pastor Paul and I told her about the other Bibles resources in his language available on the website ScriptureEarth.org.
The next day I received an email from Sarah. She was so excited to find this website. She called and we talked for 25 minutes. She told me she had sent the web address to Pastor Paul. He was amazed at how God worked. He said his wife had been wanting to find Bible materials for the children in the church. On the website, she found the link to Gospel Recordings which has Bible stories in their language.

These are the kind of God-ordained encounters that are spreading the Word of God digitally and physically around the world. What an amazing blessing it has been to be part of “the rest of the story”. Judy
Thank you for praying for the open doors to promote ScriptureEarth.org; bringing hope and joy to many. Jim and Judy
