Through prayers of faith…we trust God for all things

   Three prayer requests for you:

  • A prayer of thanksgiving. God provided all of our Wycliffe ministry budget. He is Good!
  • Ask God to show us which section of the U.S. to start our Scripture Earth Promotion work.
  • Pray for a mobile office and home, often called an RV.

Our next Wycliffe assignment will require extensive traveling, covering many parts of North America. In consultation with our leadership, we have decided that an RV is a critical component which would provide us with both mobility and a place to stay.

God knows exactly what we need, better than we do. We trust His judgment 100%. If you read our story below, you’ll agree, it’s good to pray specifically. Jesus asked the blind man what he wanted, though He knew already.

After research and talking to other RV owners, Please, pray with us for a:

¾ or 1 ton crew cab truck, diesel, 2003 or newer, with less than 150K miles.   Plus…

28 – 30 ft. 5th wheel trailer, 2003 or newer, with a cold weather package and generator.

SE Truck RV

Or

A class-A motorhome, 28 – 33 ft, gas or diesel, 2003 or newer, with a cold weather package, generator, and less than 150K miles.    Plus…

An economical MPG, flat towable, (doesn’t need to be on a trailer) car to pull behind the motorhome.

Our Story

It was a warm summer day in July 1984, Norman, Oklahoma. Judy was driving our 1967 VW camper van that I had just restored when suddenly it lost power. She coasted to a stop and saw that smoke was billowing from the rear engine compartment. Our four-month-old son Josh was in his car seat on the back seat. Judy quickly got him out and ran to the closest house, asking them to call the fire department.  They arrived in just a few minutes and extinguished the fire. The van was towed to the university where we were training to join Wycliffe.

That afternoon, the Wycliffe director found us, and asked, “What do you plan to do now?” I said I wasn’t sure, but we would pray. He said, “Great! I’ll pray with you, what do you want?” I said, “I’m not picky, anything will do.” The director said, “No, no, no, be specific, what do you really want?” I said, “A station wagon would be good.” He said, “What color do you want it?” I said, “Color? Umm, blue.” He said, “Great! Let’s pray for a blue station wagon.” Then he took off down the hallway.

In less than 24 hours he found us again and excitedly said, “It came in! Last night at our Dallas office”. The director had received a call from the Dallas office and was told that someone dropped off a blue station wagon leaving a note on the windshield saying that God had told them to leave this car for a missionary in need. (That Wycliffe donation program is no longer available.)

Anything would have worked, but God gave us exactly what we prayed for.  We believe He knew we needed the assurance of His faithfulness as we began our full-time missionary service. We have seen Him provide in miraculous ways many times in the past 34 years.

Pray with us, that God would provide exactly what will allow us to be most effective!

  1. Hi Jim & Judy,

Your “story” encouraged both Dave and me! Sometimes doing something you believe God wants you to do gets very hard when you are tired… Like the story in Nehemiah when the workers grew tired in the middle of building the wall! So here is a bit of our story from the past two weeks:

Our daughter Dea and her husband Dave came to Tucson from Austin two weeks ago to attend the Ravi Zacharias Founder’s Week event that his ministry holds somewhere different in the US every year for their “inner circle” of 800 or so individuals/couples. These people are large supporters and/or working in the ministry. Our kids are both. So… our son-in-law got us passes to the last half of the program. (We were out of town the first day and a half for our god son Xiomar’s Marine Corp boot camp graduation.) At any rate, Sunday morning one of the seasoned female apologists from RZIM program gave a message on Nehemiah and the building of the wall and about the exhaustion and enemy’s harassment in the middle of the endeavor. But how God saw them through it! I was pretty much crying for a good part of the message as I was feeling completely “out of gas” trying to start the New Creation Trades textile training non-profit program. I know God can, and I believe wants to bless this ministry to help the under-resourced learn a trade. However, the learning of a trade that can bring in a livable wage is secondary to the opportunity for local churches to share Jesus!! Our program is designed such that while the church family is facilitating the training of these broken individuals, they have a captive audience to share the love of Jesus! These are people who are unable to find work or are unable to work outside of their home. New Creation Trade’s program is designed with them in mind and has the potential to bring them both Jesus and a job! So, back to Sunday’s message. The presenter told the story of her husband being an Anglican priest and how God used him to take a large church building with only a dozen or so “praying grannies” left, to a thriving church of 700 adults and 1000 children! (They are English if you haven’t guessed!) After the message and communion, the lady’s “Anglican priest” husband named “Frog”:-) was up front along with some others waiting to pray for those in need. Dea strongly suggested that I go up and ask Frog to pray for us and our program. I did and he did.

Now it is the next day, Monday and I have been asked by a Diana, a Christian woman that is working with us and who does contract sewing for a workroom in Green Valley, to meet her boss Nancy. Nancy needs more employees, but they are hard to find since few people are qualified for sewing jobs in 2018. So, Diana and I went to Green Valley and I met Nancy. We are visiting and talking about NCTs and how the program could lead to some of our students entering Pima College’s sewing certification program. Suddenly she says “I have been trying to give Pima College $1,000 to start a scholarship program for two years and they haven’t taken me up on it, so I’m giving it to you. How would you like for me to do it?” Well… I collected myself and asked if she could do it on Face book’s #Giving Tuesday program Nov. 27th, and give it early in the morning, where Face book and PayPal match the first $7 million that is donated through that portal to any qualified non-profit until the match money is gone. We kept talking and she then tells me about the workroom near Grant and Oracle that has lots of room (23,000 sq. ft.) and also needs a larger labor force and how the owner since he has extra room, might be willing to store our cloth (that fills a 16′ box truck) and our sewing machines for free so he can get a tax write off and hopefully some qualified sewers to work for him! Nancy let me know a couple of days later that he would be “happy to do that”!! Next time I spoke with Nancy, she told me that she was moving her workroom up to his large building and that they will be collaborating to get our students into school and/or into their work force! Oh, the best part? His workroom is .8 miles from our house!!! Did I mention that we have 160 or more sewing machines on the front porch of our 900 sq. ft. house?? And that there are a few more in the back yard?? Maybe you can pray for Nancy Lambert and Bruch Beyer that they too will find the love of Jesus compelling!!

I also didn’t mention that a friend/client of Dot’s (another one of our daughters) decided a month ago to give us $300 per month towards office space! She is from India and is a Hindu!! Dot has actually gone to India to work on her sister’s house:-) She really loves our daughter and see’s Jesus in her hard work and joyful heart!

All of this long story to say that our God is more than faithful!!

Again, I’m a so thankful that God has met your need so that you can get the good news about the Good News out to those who desperately need it! You have also encouraged me just by being able to read your email posts!

    Blessings!!

    Doris
