The SIL Americas’ Scripture Access team we are hoping to join currently has 9 members. This team has been busy promoting the use of the website www.ScriptureEarth.org to people whose first language is not English but living in North America.
Here is a short list of some of the languages that they have reached out to: Navajo, Hopi, Zuni, Rwanda Kinyarwanda, Assyrian, Nepali, Metlatonoc Mixtec, Somali, Akan, Zacatlan Nahuatl, Gwich’in, Amatlan Zapotec, Akateco, Mong Njua, Agutaynen, Tagalog, Yoruba, Cora.
One way the Scripture Access team is working to reach out to these language groups is by posting Facebook Ads. The ads focus on specific areas of North America where speakers of these language groups live. They can focus on an area as small as an apartment complex. Then they receive the analytics; letting them know the success of the advertisement.
Here is an example of the analytics for the Rwanda ad. The ad, a short Bible story, was seen by 1,495 people; 228 people ‘liked’ it, and 7 people ‘shared’ it with their friends. As a result, many others have looked at the Bible in Rwanda on ScriptureEarth.
To see it yourself, you can click the hyperlink below and go directly to the Rwanda ScriptureEarth.org page. https://goo.gl/bng8H6 There you will find Scripture in text form, audio, and video in Rwandan.
After only two months there have been nearly 80,000 views of www.ScriptureEarth.org ads on Facebook. Potentially 80,000 people given access to Scripture in their heart language. We believe this is proving to be a very effective tool.
Judy and I greatly desire to join the Scripture Access team to multiply and broaden their efforts. We can only do that when our prayer and financial partnership team is large enough to fully fund our Wycliffe ministry. Please pray that God will call out an additional 30 partners by Oct. 1st. Might one of them be you? Click here to see how to join our sending team.”
Once the partnership team is complete we will hit the road to promote ScriptureEarth.org to churches, universities, and ministries who are helping the refugee, immigrant, and Native American populations. At times we will be working in areas where the Facebook ads have run to reinforce that effort.
Judy and I are doing great, even though tired from all the travels. We are currently back in Tucson. We leave Aug 8 for our daughters home in NC. She will be giving birth to our third grandchild. Judy will be helping with the older kids and I will continue our work of expanding our Wycliffe partnership team.
Jody’s pregnancy is going well. Pray that he doesn’t come before we arrive. The grandkids are having good adventures this summer. Violette had 7 teeth pulled cuz of overcrowding! Brave girl! Caleb works hard at his job and the house remodeling.
Josh and his new wife Ani are 3/4 of the way through their two month trip in the USA; introducing Ani to the family from coast to coast. This is her first time in the USA. They return to Russia Aug 1.
Jordan is still based at the Grand Canyon as a firefighter on the helicopter crew. He is currently on a fire in northern Nevada.
It’s summer here in Tucson and so it’s hot, but the summer rains have cooled it down a bit.
Thank you for praying for us, encouraging us and supporting our Wycliffe ministry.
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32 NIV
