A week in Hickory

Jody and Caleb Depp our daughter and husband, bought a home in Hickory, NC. He accepted a new position as a Nurse Anesthetists at the local hospital. The house is about 65 years old and needed a few upgrades and modifications.  So enter Jim and Judy stage left. We took our last week of vacation, a red eye flight from Phoenix on Friday night and arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed Saturday morning.  Jim, Fred Depp and John Bowman joined Caleb and his brother Ben that morning in Hickory while Judy, Jody and the grand kids stayed in Waxhaw with Jean Depp. We dove right into installing a sliding glass door in a the back of the house. We followed that by installing two four foot by four foot windows on each side of the door. Their dinning room went from a two foot wide glass window to fourteen foot of glass looking into the backyard where the kids will be playing. A nice addition it was.

Then there was a lot of painting, some minor plumbing, new tile installed in a bathroom, installation of a new double sink vanity in the bath and of course a new toilet. New electric wiring for security lights, new plumbing for an ice maker and planing doors. Many trips to Home Depot, Loews and the local hardware store.

When Judy and the grand kids arrived on Monday, she ran the grand kids ragged. She is one active grandma. They were going to the park, playing in the pool, playing with the sprinkler. Riding the big wheel, playing soccer, playing kitty’s and dogs. She did all that while also unloading box’s and box’s from storage into their new cupboard places and washing and cleaning lots of the house.  A grand time was held by all.

We worked from O2* early to O2 late for 7 plus days. Right up to getting into the car for the ride back to the airport. We got back to Tucson, late Saturday night and I was bright eyed and bushy tailed for work  at 6 AM Monday morning.

Now that is my kind of vacation!

Jim the Wacko…

O2 is Oxygen…something we need to survive…We just worked way to early to way to late…get it?
