Motorcycles for Transformation

Motorcycles on the Road for Transformation
Lives transformed through the Word of God is what drives our passion for ministry. We love working as a team with you. Your prayers provide the power, and we are so grateful for your advise and helping to finance us as we do what God puts in front of us to do.
While in Chad we saw how important having a good literacy program is to the on-going transformation of lives through the scriptures in the indigenous languages. June 6-8 we participated in the “Tiny Bikes Big Change”, fund raiser; see our last post. As a result, the wheels started turning in our minds for another fund raising idea.  So here’s our new and developing idea! Riding two 250cc motorcycles 2500 miles across America. We will do it over a thirty day period, probably in October. It’s purpose will be to raise awareness for literacy needs in Africa and raise funds to purchase motorcycles for national literacy and translation programs. JAARS Inc.’s land transportation program has been assisting in Africa by providing motorcycles and training. I had an awesome time doing training programs in Cameroon and Chad last year, see my posts.
We will full throttle it to 25 or so locations across the USA and throw a party at each! Well, not necessarily a party but an event to draw awareness to the need for literacy in Africa. We are proposing that the major motorcycle manufacturers donate two motorcycles, a big prayer point. We will be stopping at their dealerships to hold the event*. Wycliffe’s publicity personnel will contact national and local media and motorcycle, literacy specific publications, churches and colleges in each location and inviting them to assist.  Local motorcycle clubs will be invited to ride with us for a section or as long as they as they can. It could look like this…how awesome would that be?
(It could happen…dream big!)
Our goal is $50,000. We will be encouraging people, anyone, to pledge a penny, dime or a dollar per mile. (We already have several who have pledged) Along the way and online we will sell raffle tickets for the two motorcycles we will be riding. The drawing will take place at the end of the ride. We will be encouraging the dealerships to donate items to be raffled off at each event location. We will be encouraging churches, colleges and motorcycle clubs to host their own fund raisers for literacy. All monies collected will go directly to the project. We will have a separate operating budget for completion of the ride. Here is a link to some great info about  scripture causing Transformation
Prayer points:
God gives wisdom for each step of the way.
God provides the two motorcycles through a major motorcycle manufacture
God connects us with the right individuals and organizations to make this successful
Most important that this project brings glory to God and transforms lives both here and in Africa as individuals come to a close relationship with God

Romans 12:2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…

Thanks for praying with us. It’s going to take a huge team to make this happen.
*If the motorcycle manufactures don’t give us bikes we will be looking to God to provide them another way.
