We are in Athens, Greece!
As our plane taxied down the taxiway, an older Greek man sitting in front of us got very concerned he might be on the wrong aircraft. He got up from his window seat and was attempting to access the isle. The other passengers around him were trying to help him see he was on the correct aircraft. They asked him to sit down. He would not and people all around him were punching on their “request help” buttons. Two attendants came quickly and managed to get him to sit down. There was a wonderful young American woman sitting next to him who was being very reassuring to him. He finally calmed down and we took off. Judy slept thru this.
The flight was cool as we flew over France seeing snow on some mountains, farmlands, and then over the sea. As we arrived into Greece, it was interesting to see the ruggedness of the coastal areas.
The terrain was very so very close in appearance to Escondido, CA. We seem drawn to desert like areas, how strange…
We have a nice little hotel room on the third floor, with a small two person elevator, like in an old movie. We just got back from a walk across the street to a privately operated beach, “South Coast”. 5€ each for the day. It’s very nicely set up, chairs, shade umbrellas, backboard, different areas for different activities. With lots and lots of loud music, we think we will pass for tomorrow.
We are now sitting on a balcony and doing some internet researching for more options for some of the rest of our time here.
